Humak is now is offering the Volume! programme for solo entrepreneurs in creative industries in English. The English version of Volume-program will start on 1st September 2023. Registration is now open!
Volume! – Empowering Solo Entrepreneurs through Global Readiness has been developed by Creve, our business service for the creative industries. This online programme aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of solo entrepreneurs in the creative industries to help them compete and thrive in an increasingly global environment.
This free skills-building program (2023-2024) targets solo entrepreneurs working in textiles, fashion and graphic design, including visual design, illustration and marketing.
“Internationalism and the international environment are a constant presence in our lives, from the minute we open our doors, switch on our computers or look at our phones. Digitalization and global competitiveness have become an unavoidable reality for businesses and customers alike – whether we like it or not. The Covid-19 pandemic has only accelerated this shift”, observes business and entrepreneurship specialist Leena Janhila, Humak, situating the course against this backdrop.
At the heart of our programme is the readiness of solo entrepreneurs to meet the challenges of a changing world and evolving business environments.
“While solo entrepreneurs may not see international growth as a key priority, it is nonetheless essential they have the capacity to meet the challenge of evolving markets and changing work environments. Skills for today and for the future – increasingly these include the ability to foster collaboration and leverage your networks” continues Janhila.
Volume can provide a channel for entrepreneurs with international backgrounds to engage with fellow entrepreneurs and to network. Part of our mission is to bring together entrepreneurs from a variety of cultural backgrounds and, in doing so, create an international learning environment for all of us.
The programme is offered concurrently in Finnish and English. These two streams will be brought together via connections and shared events. Our specialist (cultural sector) language electives are important in supporting interaction and networking.

A learning pathway tailored to meet the needs of each entrepreneur
From September, Volume! programme participants will be able to develop the skills they need most by selecting the online modules that are right for them
Participants can choose among modules in entrepreneurship, sustainability and social responsibility in business, project management and finances, branding and sales as well as language electives. Participants can also take advantage of the Creve training programme to help develop their business.
Many of the courses feature peer learning and the programme also incorporates group coaching sessions, a specialty of the Creve business service. These group coaching sessions enable us to highlight practical examples from the field and offer a forum for knowledge sharing among participants.
While networking is an integral part of the Volume! programme, it is also possible to complete the programme independently.
What and when?
The programme is offered online in both Finnish and English:
- The Volume! programme is offered online (2023-2024). Guidance, networking and group coaching sessions are also online.
- The programme is offered in both Finnish and English. Take a look on the Finnish programme here.
- The programme is aimed at solo and micro-entrepreneurs operating in the creative industries.
- Volume! is free for participants. The programme is funded by the Service Centre for Continuous Learning and Employment (SECLE).
Registration
- Registration is open and free of charge! You can enroll until October 31, 2024.

- 3) Join the course on Hoodle (learning platform, you will receive details upon registration approval).
